Teaching

Davis is currently on faculty at the Global Music Academy Berlin.

With over ten years of teaching experience, his teaching philosophy focuses on catering to the individual needs of each student and exploring the capabilities of music beyond standard practices. Davis has taught classes, clinics, and private lessons throughout the world, from the United States (Arkansas, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin), Canada, Japan, Germany, Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Teaching focuses include:
• classical violin

     • solo/chamber repertoire

     • orchestral auditions

     • Suzuki method
• jazz violin

     • interpreting lead sheets

     • accompanying ("comping") on the violin

     • Jamey Aebersold improvisation techniques

• fiddle styles
• music theory
• ear training
• keyboard skills
• songwriting

 

Lessons available for students of all skill levels and ages. 

Skype lessons also available.

Taught in English or Japanese.
